TAO : Transitioning Applications to Ontologies - European Commission IST FP6 - 2006-2009

The goal of the TAO project is to define a low-cost route to transitioning legacy systems to the open semantic Service-Oriented Architectures (SOAs), which will enable semantic interoperability between heterogeneous data resources and distributed applications.

ROI gained:

developing a new component, the CA Manager, for integrating linguistic tools based on the UIMA framework and web services to automate semantic annotation and ontology population
integrating GATE linguistic tool with our new CA Manager component
developing a methodology for helping our clients to transition their legacy applications to semantic-oriented architecture thanks to ontology modelling
