ITM supporting other Information System applications
API & Web Services: ITM as Reference materials server
The ITM application has been designed for access by Web Services and API to be made available to external applications. The available services enable:
- ontology modelling to be consulted
- ontology to be updated (creation, updating, merging, deletion of data)
- semantic searching within the ontology
- navigation between subjects via semantic relationships
- access to the event alerts mechanism
ITM can therefore be used as a Reference Material Server to aid content indexing, content management, specialist vocabulary comprehension, technical document creation, translation, text mining and search applications, among others, by providing each of these tools with terminological resources, synonyms, translations and organisational links for specialist subjects and concepts.
Development of specific user interfaces and applications
Setting up specialist reference material, a knowledge base or a catalogue often requires the development of user interfaces suited to the specialism and the particular use. It is quick and easy to develop these specific interfaces and management functions using the Web Services or API available in ITM.
